Centre tied for Seventh after Day One of NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship

ANGOLA, Ind. - Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference champion Centre College is tied for seventh place after the first round of the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. The Colonels shot a five player first round total of 317 and are tied with Mary Hardin-Baylor. Complete First Round Results

Senior Emily Bachert shot a team best 76 (+4) in the first round. After shooting a five over par 41 on the front nine, she came back to shoot a one under par 35 on the back nine to put her self in a tie for sixth in the individual competition.

Teammate Allison Hancock shot a 79 (+7) while Michaela Manley shot an 80 (+8). Rounding out the Colonel individual scores was Whitney Miller who shot an 82 (+10) and Alyssa Brown's 86 (+14).

Bachert's four over par puts her just four strokes back of the tournament's leader. Georgianna Saliant of Williams College shot an even 72 to take the first round lead among individuals.

As a team, Centre is 10 strokes back of first round leader Williams. The Ephs shot a 307 and maintain a three stroke lead over the 14 time defending national champion Methodist Monarchs.

Centre will continue the tournament when the Colonels begin the second round on Wednesday beginning at 8 a.m. EST.
