Trinity's Kevin Martin Wins Third Straight SCAC One-Meter Diving Championship

ROCKWALL, Texas - Trinity University senior Kevin Martin opened up the first day of the 2012 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Swimming & Diving Championships by successfully defending his one-meter diving championship. Results | Team Scores | Official Site

Martin scored a total of 459.85 points to outpace runner-up Austin Howlett of Colorado College by just over 15 points. With the win, Martin became the third diver in SCAC history to win three one-meter diving titles. He also became just the second diver in league history to win the one-meter championship three times in a row.

Trinity and Colorado College both placed two divers in the top five as the Trinity Tigers had Martin (1st) and teammate Richard Hawley (4th) while the Colorado College Tigers had Howlett (2nd) and Reggie Anderson (5th). Rounding out the top five was Centre College's Ryan Rougeux who finished in third-place.

The first full day of swimming and diving competition begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. CST with preliminary action followed by the first full day of finals competition at 6:30 p.m.
