SUWANEE, Ga. - Centre jumped into the top 25 in the nation last week at 15th and made a splash picking up three shutout wins including a 1-0 win over 2nd-ranked Otterbein on Sunday. Morgan Collins notched the game winning goal for the Colonels as Centre is off to its first 5-0 start since 2006.

Austin College split its two matches last week, getting an 18th minute penalty kick from Kelsey D'Amore in a 1-0 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor before falling 3-2 after a second half rally by Concordia-Texas. The 'Roos are now 2-2 overall this season. D'Amore's goal was all the 'Roos would need against UMHB, as Maya Warnock earned her second shutout of the season, but against Concordia the 'Roos went ahead 2-1 behind a pair of goals from Lauren Scott before the Tornados came back with two second half goals to hand Austin College the loss. Tyler Marquez, KK Peters and Ali Ryan had assists in the loss. This week the 'Roos head to Jackson to take on Millsaps as they open SCAC play on Friday.
Birmingham-Southern played two double overtime games this weekend at the Hanover College Tournament in Hanover, Ind., falling to Thomas More College on Saturday, 2-1, in double OT, and tying with host Hanover on Sunday, 1-1. Sophomore Amanda Babbin scored BSC's goal against TMC, while senior Linda Amaya scored the Panthers' goal against Hanover. BSC returns home this weekend to face Emory University on Friday at 6 p.m.
#15 Centre recorded a pair of wins in the Glynn Hyundai Showcase hosted by Transylvania University. Saturday afternoon, September 10th, Centre defeated Baldwin Wallace 1-0. Sunday afternoon, September 11th, Centre earned their second win defeating No. 2 Otterbein College 1-0. Centre's next match is Saturday, September 17th at the College of Wooster.
Dallas posted a 2-1 record on the week with wins over LeTourneau and Texas Lutheran Universities. The lone loss for the Lady Crusaders was a hard fought 1-0 game against Howard Payne. Melissa Carpenter led Dallas with three goals and an assist on the week. Defensively Meredith Noe helped anchor a backline that posted two shutouts. Dallas will return to action this week as they hit the road and travel to Kansas for a match-up with Bethany College on Saturday.
Hendrix played extremely well all week and had a chance to win every game as they went 2-1. Senior goalkeeper Allison Mosley recorded a career-high 18 saves in a tough 1-0 overtime home loss to Ouachita Baptist on Wednesday. The Warriors rebounded to defeat Louisiana College 6-0 on the road on Saturday. Junior Rebecca Rahn scored two goals and had an assist in the game. Senior Hannah McGrew, freshman Bailey Ann Harper and junior Morgan Scott also found the net in the game. On Sunday at Mississippi College, Rahn scored with 1:58 remaining in overtime to give the Warriors a 1-0 road win. Junior keeper Megan Childress came up with a career-high 14 saves for her second shutout of the weekend.
Millsaps fell Friday evening to the East Texas Baptist Tiger 2-0. In a defensive battle, ETBU used two late goals in the second half to knock off the Majors. Millsaps had many opportunities to tie including four shots by Junior Margaret Eggers, but could not find the back of the net.
Oglethorpe dropped their only match of the week, a 2-0 decision at Agnes Scott. The Petrels outshot the Scotties 29-7 but could not manage one past their keeper. Oglethorpe is back in action this week with a home contest on Monday versus Spelman and a road date on Wednesday at Piedmont.
Rhodes split their two games this weekend in St. Louis. The Lynx were able to overpower Fontbonne to a 6-0 win. Scoring for the Lynx were two seniors and two freshmen. Seniors Laura Flink and Ashley Ladd scored 2 goals apiece while freshmen Kelsey Keown and Delaney Bracken scored one each. Goalkeepers Stephanie Sermonet and Allison Cowling combined for the shutout. On Sunday #16 Wash U scored late in the first half and held onto the 1-0 victory over the Lynx. Senior Stephanie Sermonet made 12 saves for the Lynx.
After falling in their opening two road matches last week, the Tigers were able to earn their first point of the season this week. Despite dropping a Thursday evening contest at Berry College, the Tigers returned to The Mountain for their first home match, Saturday. In that contest Sewanee opened the scores as forward Lizzie Butler found the back of the net for the second time this week. Unfortunately, for the Tigers regional-rival Maryville came back late in the second half, forcing a 1-1 draw.
Southwestern took two games this week to improve to 3-1-1 on the season. Friday the Pirates faced UT Tyler at home and after a hard fought battle SU pulled out the 2-1 win. Southwestern took the lead in the 35th minute on a perfectly executed free kick by Laura Ornelas who found Hannah Neil on the 6-yard box line and then went up by two on some fancy footwork by Jillian Curran. UTT attempted a comeback as they scored one goal in the 87th minute, but I proved too little, too late. Sunday's match was a defensive standoff through regulation with neither team able to take advantage of their opportunities as they game headed into extra time. The tie lasted until the 106th minute when Maria Pollifrone collected the rebound off of Lyndsey Resnik's blocked shot, turned and drove the ball into the lower 90 for the game winner. Southwestern remains at home this week as they host UC Santa Cruz on Friday and then play Huston Tillotson in their final non-conference match before they head into SCAC action.
#7 Trinity recorded three shutout victories to remain unbeaten this season, defeating Schreiner, UT-Dallas, and UT-Tyler over the past week. The Tigers opened the week with a 9-0 win over Schreiner that featured a hat trick from first-year Hannah Kuhl, and a four-assist game from first-year Emily Jorgens. Kuhl became the second Trinity first-year to score a hat trick this season, and the 22nd in Trinity history to do so. Jorgens tied a school record with four assists in the game. Jorgens then scored the game-winning goals against both UT-Dallas and UT-Tyler on Friday and Sunday. She finished the week with three goals and five assists to lead the Tigers. Trinity will play its first game away from home this week, taking on UC-Santa Cruz in Georgetown, Texas, on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers defeated the Banana Slugs 5-0 in San Antonio last season.
