Centre remains sixth; Bachert one stroke off lead after Day Three of NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship

ANGOLA, Ind. - Day three of the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship is in the books at Zollner G.C. in Angola, Ind. The Centre women's golf team played its best round of the tournament to date and made up some ground, but still remain in sixth place. Complete Third Round Results

Centre shot a combined team score of 314 on Thursday, the fourth lowest of the day for the field. That brings their three-day total to 950 with one final day still to be played. The Colonels are one shot behind fifth place Mary Hardin-Baylor and eight shots behind Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Centre will be paired up with both Mary Hardin-Baylor and Wisconsin-Eau Claire for the final day of play.

Individually, senior Emily Bachert had her best round of the tournament on Thursday, shooting a two-over round of 74. Bachert trails Catherine Wagner of Wisconsin-Eau Claire by one shot on the individual leadboard heading into Friday, where she will look to add a National Championship to the National-Runner Up trophy she won a year ago.

Junior Whitney Miller also posted her best round of the tournament on Thursday with a five-over 77. Freshman Alyssa Brown made the biggest improvement for the Colonels with a score of 78. Sophomore Allison Hancock and freshman Michaela Manley each posted rounds of 85 to finish off the scoring for Centre.

The final day of competition at the NCAA Championship will resume play on Friday at 8:00. The live stats link on the schedule page will cover all the action.
