BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Centre and Southwestern advanced to tomorrow's semifinal matches after picking up quarterfinal wins against Birmingham-Southern and Colorado College, respectively. Centre will take on top-seeded Trinity while Southwestern will face second-seeded Oglethorpe.
Game One
Fifth-seeded Centre scored two second-half goals after trailing 1-0 at the half in a 2-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference quarterfinal win over fourth-seeded Birmingham-Southern at BSC Soccer Park on the campus of Birmingham-Southern. BOX SCORE
The Colonels improved to 12-5-2 overall, while the Panthers ended their season with a record of 10-7-0.
Birmingham-Southern made its lone shot in the first half count as sophomore Brooks Busby scored an unassisted goal giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead at the half.
Junior forward Ryan Garvey delivered the Colonel's first goal at 57:25. Not even five minutes later sophomore Robbe Tarver buried a free kick in the side netting past BSC goalkeeper Sveinbo Grimsson to give Centre a 2-1 lead.
Centre held a 14-3 edge in shots and a 10-1 advantage in corners. Centre's Chris Jackson recorded one save and Grimsson totaled four saves for Birmingham-Southern.
Centre will battle the top seed in the SCAC Tournament Trinity tomorrow at 5:00 CST with the winner advancing to the championship match on Sunday. Earlier in the season Trinity defeated Centre 3-0 in Danville.
After the game, SCAC Director of Communications Russell Kramer caught up with both head coaches along with sophomore midfielder Robbe Tarver of Centre.

Game Two
Forrest Baker's goal in the second half lifted sixth-seeded Southwestern to a 2-1 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal win over third-seeded Colorado College and into Saturday's semifinal game. BOX SCORE
Timothy Eamma gave Southwestern a 1-0 lead on Evan Perkin's assist at 10:50 before Colorado College knotted the score at 1-1 at 57:17 on Matt Fechter's score.
Bakers's game-winner came with just 1:19 remaining in the second half on an assist from Matthew Nickell and was the junior's first goal of the season.
Southwestern held a 15-8 edge in shots including 6-4 in shots on goal. Southwestern's Daniel Poole recorded two saves while Brian Graf of Colorado College totaled four saves.
Colorado College closes out its season with a record of 11-5-3.
Southwestern, with the win, advances to tomorrow's semifinal match against Oglethorpe at 7:30 CST. This will be the first meeting between the Pirates and the Petrels this season.
