SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Tiger men's soccer team was eliminated from the Second Round of the NCAA Playoffs with a 2-0 loss to the University of Texas-Tyler on Sunday afternoon.

After the two teams played to a scoreless tie through the first half, Tyler's Jesue Morteo and Chris Powell had second-half goals in a span of five minutes to put the Patriots in control of the game.  Morteo scored in the 66th minute for the eventual game-winner, assisted by Powell, and Powell's goal was assisted by Victor Almendariz.

UT-Tyler (17-2-2) will play in the NCAA Sectionals next weekend, at a site to be determined.  Trinity (14-2-2) lost its second straight game to finish the season.

Earlier this season, Trinity defeated Tyler 3-0 in San Antonio, and the Tigers also beat the Patriots 4-2 on penalty kicks in last year's NCAA Playoffs.

Trinity held a 19-13 edge in shots - including a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal.  Sergio Gardea recorded eight saves for the Patriots, while the team also made two saves by clearing shots off the line.

Matt Cardone finished with two saves for the Tigers.  Josh Adams had four shots for Trinity, while Zach Garcia had two shots on goal in the game.
