MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Birmingham-Southern junior safety Andrew Shannon was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his play in the Panthers' 35-29 double-overtime win at home against in-state rival Huntingdon.
Shannon, who just yesterday was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) defensive player of the week, tallied a school-record 19 tackles (13 of which were solo), two tackles for loss, forced a fumble and defended a pass.
In two games, Shannon is averaging a league best 10.5 tackles per game, while also leading the SCAC with two interceptions and one interception return for a touchdown.
Shannon, and the rest of his Birmingham-Southern teammates return to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 when the Panthers travel to Ave Maria, Fla. to square off against Ave Maria University at Noon ET.
