Centre's Hume Named AFCA All-American

WACO, Texas - Centre College senior offensive lineman Ben Hume was named to the 2011 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III All-America team, the organization announced today.

Hume helped lead the Colonels to a 9-2 overall record including a 5-1 mark in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play and a second place finish and the school's first-ever bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs, where they lost to eventual Stagg Bowl participant Mount Union in the second round.

The senior from Lexington, Ky. anchored a Colonel offensive line that helped Centre lead the league in scoring offense (33.4 points/game) and rank in the top three in total offense (second - 362.3 yards/game), rushing offense (third - 189.4 yards/game) and passing offense (third - 172.9 yards/game.).

Additionally, Hume helped pave the way for the Centre running game to tally over 1,700 yards and 24 touchdowns. Hume also received two votes for SCAC Offensive Player of the Year and earned All-SCAC first-team postseason honors from the league's coaches.
