PERRY, N.Y. - Colorado College defender Ian Coughlan is among 32 players nationwide selected to play in the 71st annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/LaxWorld Division III Senior North/South Game later this week.
The contest is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET Friday (May 25) at
Harvard Stadium in Boston.
Coughlin helped anchor a Colorado College defense that finished as
the 10th stingiest in the country after allowing 10 or more goals
in only two of its 15 games and holding eight opponents to five
tallies or less. The former Deerfield (Mass.) Academy standout, who
earned a spot in the starting lineup as a junior and remained there
for 28 of the last 31 games since spring of 2011, tied for third on
the team with 10 caused turnovers and was eighth with 21 ground
balls. As a team, CC also tied for No. 21 throughout all of
Division III in man-down defense.
The Tigers finished the season with a 12-3 overall record and won
the SCAC regular-season title for the third consecutive year with a
9-0 mark.
The prestigious North/South Game originated in 1940 and has
traditionally been played at Municipal Stadium in Baltimore, Md. In
addition to the Division III tilt, Friday's doubleheader at Harvard
will feature a Division I/II game, as well, starting at 5:30 p.m.
ET.
Tickets can be purchased at the stadium.
Dave Webster of Dickinson College will serve as head coach for the
Division III South squad, while Middlebury's Dave Campbell will
guide the North. Each was responsible for selecting his respective
team.
