Centre finishes fourth; Bachert finishes second at NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Centre women's golf team has concluded its most successful season in program history with its best postseason finish in program history. The Colonels had a phenomenal final day of play at the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, finishing in fourth place for the tournament. Complete Final Round Results

The Colonels shot an incredible team score of 306 on Friday, the lowest score shot by any of the 19 teams in the field on any of the four days of the championship. That brought Centre to a four-day score of 1256, one shot behind third place Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Methodist won the event for the 14th consecutive year. DePauw finished in second place, six strokes back. Williams College finished in fifth place, nine shots behind Centre, with Mary Hardin-Baylor and George Fox rounding out the top seven.

Individually, senior Emily Bachert finished in a three-way tie for second place overall after posting a round of 77. Bachert shot 15 over par for the tournament, one shot behind Catherine Wagner of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. It is the second straight runner-up honor for Bachert after inclement weather cut her final round in the 2011 tournament short.

Junior Whitney Miller made a steep climb up the leaderboard with her final round, shooting an even par 72 and moving from 28th place into a tie for 12th. Sophomore Allison Hancock posted a score of 77, her lowest of the tournament. Freshmen Michaela Manley and Alyssa Brown rounded out the scoring with respective rounds of 80 and 82.
