LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The final weekend of the regular season for Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball teams brought plenty of drama, as three teams competed to earn the final spot in the 2016 Men's Basketball Tournament.
In the final weekend of play, the top seeded Bulldogs of Texas Lutheran University fell to Southwestern University. TLU finished the season 11-3 in SCAC action, while Southwestern tied with Colorado College for a 10-4 SCAC record.
The Tigers earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye for the tournament due to a tiebreaker. Trinity pulled out a win over Schreiner University to keep the Mountaineers out of the SCAC tournament, and to open the doors for Austin College or the University of Dallas.
AC earned the victory in a close match-up with the Crusaders to take the sixth and final spot in the group.
