INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - No. 3 Trinity University (35-7) learned early Monday morning that they will head to Spokane, Wash. to open NCAA play against Pacific Lutheran (32-14) at the West Regional hosted by Whitworth (29-11). Full Release
The Tigers will also be joined in Spokane by Case Western Reserve (26-13), Cal Lutheran (31-11) and Texas-Tyler (30-17). Trinity begins play at 11 a.m. (ET) on Wednesday.
Trinity makes its seventh straight appearance in the NCAA tournament for the school's 11th all time. Last season, the Tigers became the first team in SCAC history to make the Division III Baseball Championship round, finishing third overall after being knocked out by Wisconsin-La Crosse 10-7.
Trinity returns a total of 17 seniors to the tournament including SCAC Player of the Year Jeremy Wolf who heads into the postseason hitting .418. As a team, Trinity is ranked fifth in the nation in batting average (.346) and fourth in team ERA (2.79).
A total of 56 teams will compete in eight double-elimination regionals and the winners of those eight regionals will qualify for the double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis., beginning on May 27.
