KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released the 2015 Men’s Soccer preseason rankings Friday, and the Trinity University program was tabbed No. 6 in NCAA Division III.
The Tigers finished the 2014 season with a record of 24-2, with their final loss coming to Wheaton (Ill.) College in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament.
Trinity finished the season ranked fifth in the nation, averaging 3.27 goals per game. They also held the 25th best goals-against average, .65, allowing 16 goals in 26 matches. They also posted 14 shutout victories on the season.
Trinity will be led by Head Coach Paul McGinlay this year. McGinlay boasts a record of 415-68-30, for a winning percentage of .838. He is the winningest active men’s soccer coach, by percentage, in all NCAA Divisions. McGinlay also stands fifth in the winning percentage column on the all-time list of NCAA soccer coaches. He was selected the NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year for the ninth time during the 2014 season.
The Tigers will begin their season at home September 1 against Schreiner University.
