KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Just a day after earning National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-Region honors, Colorado College’s Max Grossenbacher was named a Scholar All-American for the organization. Full Release
To be named to a Scholar All-America Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout his or her career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; and be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member.
Grossenbacher, a biochemistry major from Austin, Texas, boasts a 3.80 grade point average. The senior forward was one of 11 NCAA Division III, NAIA and NCCAA student-athletes to earn a spot on the second team.
Wednesday, Grossenbacher was named alongside four teammates to the Scholar All-West Region team. He was one of six total SCAC athletes to earn the recognition.
In addition to his success in the classroom, Grossenbacher has also had a big year on the pitch, earning the 2015 SCAC Offensive Player of the Year award, while finishing atop the conference in all of the major offensive categories (goals, assists, points and shots).
Grossenbacher totaled nine goals and nine assists on the season for 27 points. He also fired off 98 shots to help the Tigers to a 14-3-3 record.
Grossenbacher has earned four academic awards this season, including the prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-America honor. He was also named an NSCAA All-American earlier this month.
