Walker's Complete Game Advances Trinity to SCAC Championship Round

SEGUIN, Texas -- Trinity University starter Mike Walker went the distance, scattering eight hits while allowing just two runs as the Tigers advanced to the championship round of the SCAC Baseball tournament with a 5-2 victory over Texas Lutheran Saturday afternoon at Katt-Isbel Field on the campus of TLU. Official Website l Bracket Postgame Interview w/ Mike Walker & Coach Tim Scannell

For the second consecutive game, Trinity rallied from a deficit, but this time it was just one run and the Tigers' four-run fifth inning was more than enough to hold off the top-seeded Bulldogs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A homer by Trinity's Nick Jewett in the top of the fourth - his fourth of the season - broke up a scoreless tie.
  • Texas Lutheran took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Keaton Bohrmann's run-scoring triple was the big blow.
  • In its very next at-bat, Trinity exploded for four runs with RBI singles by Jeremy Wolf and Jose Santos and a two-run single by Brody Fehmel.
  • Both teams left 10 runners on base but Trinity out-hit Texas Lutheran, 12-8.
