SEGUIN, Texas -- Trinity University starter Mike Walker went the distance, scattering eight hits while allowing just two runs as the Tigers advanced to the championship round of the SCAC Baseball tournament with a 5-2 victory over Texas Lutheran Saturday afternoon at Katt-Isbel Field on the campus of TLU. For the second consecutive game, Trinity rallied from a deficit, but this time it was just one run and the Tigers' four-run fifth inning was more than enough to hold off the top-seeded Bulldogs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A homer by Trinity's Nick Jewett in the top of the fourth - his fourth of the season - broke up a scoreless tie.
- Texas Lutheran took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Keaton Bohrmann's run-scoring triple was the big blow.
- In its very next at-bat, Trinity exploded for four runs with RBI singles by Jeremy Wolf and Jose Santos and a two-run single by Brody Fehmel.
- Both teams left 10 runners on base but Trinity out-hit Texas Lutheran, 12-8.

- Trinity is in the championship round for the fourth straight year and eighth time in the last nine years. The Tigers won the title in six of those eight previous appearances.
- The triple by Bohrmann was his first of the season.
- With the victory, Walker improved to a perfect 8-0 on the season. He is the only undefeated pitcher remaining in the conference this season (minimum of 8 decisions).
- This was the second straight complete game in SCAC tournament play for Walker - he pitched the tournament clincher in last year's 10-0 victory against Centenary.
- With two hits, Trinity's Jeremy Wolf now has 236 career hits and is just five hits away from cracking the SCAC's top 10 all-time in the category.

Trinity (34-7) plays in tomorrow's championship game at 3:30 p.m. The Tigers need just one win to claim their seventh SCAC title in the last nine years and their 12th overall. Texas Lutheran (26-14) will play the winner of today's elimination game against Centenary and Southwestern. That game is scheduled for Noon CT on Sunday.
