LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the Division III Top 25 poll for the third week of competition. Colorado College (12-1) slid from 11th to 13th after East Texas Baptist University handed the Tigers their first loss of the season in five sets. Southwestern University (11-1) shot up the leaderboard from 23rd to 18th after opening conference play 3-0 last weekend.
Colorado College was 3-1 over the weekend, but the lone blemish came against a 9-2 ETBU team that posted nine services aces and 80 digs during the five-set loss for the Tigers. CC went on to open conference play with a 3-0 record with victories over Centenary College, Austin College and the University of Dallas.
Senior Sophie Merrifield became the second player in CC volleyball history to reach the 2,000 career dig mark last weekend as well.
Southwestern University opened conference play with an impressive 3-1 victory over Trinity University. The Pirates went on to defeat Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner University for a perfect 3-0 start to conference play.
Senior outside hitter Kaitlyn Foster's efforts earned her SCAC Offensive Player of the Week after posting 33 kills in just eight sets with a 4.12 kills per set average. She took 86 attempts and had just six errors for a .314 attack percentage.
