KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) released the 2015-16 winners of the College Team Academic Awards and four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer programs earned the honor.
Colorado College, who earned the award for the 10th consecutive year, is joined this year by the University of Dallas, Texas Lutheran University and Trinity University.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
Colorado College, led by head coach Scott Palguta, posted a team GPA of 3.48 last year, to earn this award for the 16th time. Trinity University held a 3.08 GPA last season, while Dallas posted a 3.03 and Texas Lutheran came in at 3.02.
Texas Lutheran and Trinity were also among 221 schools who earned the award on both the men's and women's side.
A total of 892 soccer teams (315 men, 577 women) from throughout the United States have earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2015-16 academic year.
