Three SCAC Men's Soccer Student-Athletes Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer student-athletes earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team Thursday.

Colorado College put two on the list, while the University of Dallas added the third.

CC’s Max Grossenbacher earned the honor for the second year in a row, while teammate Soren Frykholm and UD’s Barton Holdridge made the team for the first time.

 Grossenbacher, a senior forward, holds a 3.80 grade point average, majoring in biochemistry. He is currently second in the conference with 10 goals on the season, while he leads with 10 assists. Grossenbacher is tied with teammate Robert Malone with 24 total points.

Frykholm, a junior defender, currently has a 3.80 GPA in romance languages. On the field, he has helped a CC defense that has allowed just 13 goals through 17 games, posting a GAA of 0.73. The Tigers have posted six clean sheets on the season.

Holdridge, a junior forward from Fort Worth, Texas, holds a 3.59 GPA in computer science. Holdridge is currently leading the Crusaders with seven goals, which ranks second in the SCAC.

Both Colorado College and Dallas have earned a spot in the upcoming SCAC tournament. Colorado College is battling for the top seed heading in the last week of play, while Dallas has already secured the No. 3 seed.

Voting is conducted by members of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Capital One Academic All-America Team will be announced November 21.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution  and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
