GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern closed the regular season with flair, defeating SCAC leading Texas Lutheran University 83-81 in overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- SU built up a nine point lead with 3:36 remaining in the first half but TLU closed the half on a 9-0 run to knot the game at 37 at the break.
- After the 10th tie SU got a seven point cushion, 70-63, with 8:22 remaining, but the Bulldogs battled back, tying the game at 73 on Paris Marquez's three with 22 seconds remaining to force overtime.
- Zachary Whitlock's layup with 1:47 left in overtime gave Southwestern the lead that they would never lose as the game wound to the final.
