SHERMAN, Texas – Kristina Corona has resigned as the head women's soccer coach at Austin College, athletics director David Norman has announced. Corona, who spent three seasons as the head coach of the 'Roos, has accepted the position of first assistant coach at NCAA Division II program Florida Southern College.
"I am very appreciative of my time at Austin College and all the wonderful and hardworking people I was able to work alongside in my time here," said Corona. "I look forward to following the continued success of the women's soccer program and Austin College as a whole."
Corona was honored as an NSCAA "30 under 30" member in 2014, and coached numerous Austin College student-athletes to All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference accolades. This past season, the women's soccer program was one of just 15 teams honored by the NSCAA with the Ethics and Sportsmanship Gold Award.
"We wish Kristina the best as she moves into the next chapter of her coaching career," said Norman. "She served as a wonderful role model and mentor to our women's soccer student-athletes, and we appreciate her dedication and efforts in leading our program."
An extensive national search will begin immediately for a new Kangaroo women's soccer coach.
Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
