NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America released a new set of rankings this week and four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s golf programs earned a spot in the top 25.
Schreiner University remains atop the conference, coming in at No. 11 in the poll with 214 points. The Mountaineers have competed in one tournament this year, finishin in second place at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational.
Southwestern University comes in at No. 13, moving up four spots from the previous poll and earning 166 points. The Pirates have faced tough competition this year, and have beat some of the nation’s best, including finishing in second place at the Rhodes College Men’s Fall Collegiate Golf Classic, a tournament which featured seven teams ranked in the top 25.
Texas Lutheran University is behind the Pirates at No. 16 with 126 points. The Bulldogs took first at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational, finishing seven shots ahead of Schreiner to take the title. The Bulldogs also competed at the Rhodes Classic, finishing in 12th out of 17 teams. Seven of the 11 teams ahead of them are also nationally-ranked by the GCAA.
Trinity University rounds out the SCAC teams ranked, coming in at No. 18, jumping up one spot from the last poll with 114 points. The Tigers competed in the Flower City Preview, which featured five of the nation’s top-10 teams. They took sixth place in this tournament.
