CORAL SPRINGS, Florida - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) placed seven women golfers on the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars list on Tuesday.
Those honored were Centenary College's Jamie Wright, Schreiner University's Lauren Leslie and Piper Gleadhill, Southwestern University's Mikayla Miller, Texas Lutheran University's Tarah Cochran and Trinity University's Hanna Niner and Brigette Lee.
Wright, a recent graduate from Alexandria, La., earns the honor for the second consecutive year. She graduated from Centenary in May with a 3.84 grade-point-average double majoring in political science and history with a minor in religious studies. During her Centenary career, Wright earned All-SCAC honors twice and was a four-time Academic All-Conference honoree.
Leslie, a rising sophomore from Houston, Texas, earned the honor as a business management major. Leslie was a first team All-SCAC honoree this season after finishing top five at the SCAC tournament with a 159. She also earned Newcomer-of-the-Year honors and a spot on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll.
Gleadhill, a rising sophomore from Lantana, Texas, majors in communication design at Schreiner and earned a spot on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll as a freshman.
Miller, a freshman from Copperas Cove, Texas, is a business major and earned a spot on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll this year.
Cochran, a freshman from Caldwell, Texas, also earned a spot on the SCAC Academic Honor Roll as a freshman in addition to her WGCA All-American Scholar honor.
Niner, a rising senior from Keller, Texas, earned the honor after a solid year which saw her land spot on the All-SCAC second team in addition to the Academic Honor Roll.
Lee, a recent graduate from Shavano Park, Texas, was a summa cum laude graduate in biochemistry and molecular biology and was named SCAC Woman of the Year. The second team All-SCAC member was also a CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree.
The WGCA All-American Scholars list consisted of 828 student-athletes who must meet some of the most stringent criteria in all of college athletics of a 3.50 grade-point-average.
