NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the 2016 Track & Field All-Academic Honors Thursday for Division III. Full Release
Five programs were honored with All-Academic Team honors, while four student-athletes earned Scholar Athlete recognition. Both Colorado College and Trinity University earned the award for the men and the women, while the University of Dallas women were also recognized.
The Colorado College men's program held the top GPA in the conference at 3.20, while Trinity earned a 3.13 GPA.
CC also led on the women's side with a 3.38 GPA, followed by Dallas with a 3.36 and Trinity, who posted a 3.25.
In order to be in the running for Scholar Team of the Year, a team must finish highly at the respective national championship and have at least a 3.10 cumulative team GPA. All told, there were 112 men's teams and 175 women's teams up for consideration.
The SCAC had four student-athletes earn Scholar Athlete honors.
Trinity sophomore Britney Sullivan was the only honoree on the women's side for the conference, while Cody Hall and Matt Love, both fellow sophomore Tigers, were recognized on the men's side. They were joined as Scholar Athletes by Texas Lutheran University sophomore Marquis Brown.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
- Finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
