LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The honors keep rolling in for Texas Lutheran University's Sterling Holmes as he earns postseason honors from DIII News in the organization's final publication of the year.
Holmes, a junior guard from San Antonio, Texas, earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from D-III News after his successful season. This postseason, he has already notched d3hoops.com All-South Region honors, as well as NABC All-Region and All-America recognition.
Holmes was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Year and the SCAC Basketball Tournament MVP. He also tallied three conference Player of the Week awards this season.
Throughout the regular season, he averaged 16.5 points per game, while shooting .459 from the field and .446 from distance (third in the SCAC). Holmes' shot .839 from the charity stripe, while making a league-leading 151 free throws.
He also grabbed 6.4 rebounds per game, which ranks eighth among the conference, while dishing out 112 total assists – 4.0 per game. He totaled 25 steals on the season, averaging nearly one per game, while tallying three blocks.
Holmes and the Bulldogs finished their season in the first round of the NCAA tournament after winning a second consecutive SCAC title.
