Austin College's Fleming finishes as national blocks leader

SHERMAN, Texas - Austin College sophomore volleyball standout Jessi Fleming finished the season as the national NCAA Division III leader in blocks for the 2009 campaign.

Fleming, a native of Allen, averaged 1.70 blocks per set, making her easily the statistical champion for 2009. The next closest student-athlete averaged 1.48 blocks per set. Fleming had 64 block solos and 162 block assists, making her the only player in the nation to surpass 200 total blocks for the year. Fleming also finished fifth nationally with a .402 hitting percentage and was the key reason why the ’Roos, who finished the year with a 28-12 record, were second in the nation with 2.64 blocks per set.
