UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The most successful season in Colorado College history came to an end today when the Tigers dropped a 25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 25-14 decision to Washington University in the national quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament.

CC finished the season with a 35-5 record, which ties the 1983 squad for the most victories in a single season. The 2009 Tigers also set single-season records with an .875 winning percentage and for fewest losses in a season with five.

Junior middle blocker Emily Perkins posted a double-double with a match-high 17 kills and 14 digs to lead CC. She finished the season with 459 kills, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history, and moved up to No. 3 on the career list with 1,307.

Colorado College proved it could go toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the nation, but the 4th-ranked Bears made few mistakes and pounced when CC did. The Tigers had 18 unforced attack errors and hit just .144 as a team. Conversely, the Bears hit .241 with just 12 errors.

CC had chances to extend the match, but Wash Univ. used big scoring runs to win the first and third sets. The Bears broke a 9-9 tie with an 8-0 streak in the first set, then overcame a 7-1 deficit in the third.

Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Schmoker reached double figures with 10 kills, while sophomore right side hitter Meredith Ballard added eight.

Freshman outside hitter Laura Goldsmith paced the defense with 17 kills, while sophomore setter Amy Schornack had 13 and junior middle blocker Erika Pirotte added 12.
Schornack also had seven kills and 38 assists.

The Bears were led by Erin Budde, who had a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs. Erin Albers added 12 kills, while Kelly Pang finished with 20 digs.
