GREENCASTLE, Ind.
– The Trinity University Tigers men recorded their highest-ever team finish at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships. Trinity placed fifth (18.0 points) after Saturday’s events at the NCAA Indoor Championships, held at the DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center. The team champion was North Central College, with 52.3 points.

The Tigers’ previous best performance was a sixth-place finish at last year’s NCAA Indoor Championships, held at Terre Haute, Ind. Trinity placed in a tie for the No. 6 slot at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships, at Marietta, Ohio.

Trinity senior Todd Wildman repeated as the NCAA men’s indoor national champion, amassing 3,751 points. The Tigers distance medley relay team of seniors Chass Armstrong, Brennen Peters, Bryant Wright, and junior Zach Brush, finished second, clocking in at 10:02.45.

All five Tiger competitors earned All-America honors in the process, even though it was Trinity's first-ever distance medley relay team to qualify and compete at nationals.

Junior Caitlin Masse became a women’s track and field All-American, finishing sixth in the 5,000 meters (17:06.79).  Masse also earned All-America honors during the fall as a member of the cross country team by finishing eighth at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in Highland Hills, Ohio.

Trinity’s men’s and women’s track and field teams are led by head coach David Svoboda.
