COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado College
athletics department and entire campus community has been saddened
by the death of Chris Quon on Sept. 19.
Quon, a member of the men's soccer and men's lacrosse teams, graduated in May 2009 with a degree in economics.
"Chris's passing has devastated the Colorado College athletics community," said Horst Richardson, head coach of the men's soccer team. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
A native of Lake Forest, Ill., Quon burst onto the athletics scene during the 2005 soccer season when he finished third on the team with five goals and 14 assists. In his first collegiate game, Quon set up the winning goal during a 2-0 victory over the University of La Verne. He later struck for a game winner of his own in a 3-0 triumph at Cornell College.
Quon had two goals and two assists before he was injured in the sixth game of the 2006 season, but came back the following year to record a pair of goals, including the game winner, during a 3-0 victory over Sewanee.
He completed his soccer career with nine goals, eight assists and 26 points.
"Chris was an inspiration to his teammates through his upbeat nature, outgoing personality and his athletic abilities," Richardson said.
Quon's best season in lacrosse occurred as a junior in 2008 when he logged seven goals and nine points.
As a senior in 2009, he collected three goals and four assists, scoring the game winner in a 7-4 victory over Kean University.
He finished his lacrosse career with 12 goals and six assists for a total of 18 points.
"The men's soccer team will dedicate the remainder of the season to his memory," Richardson said. "We will always have fond memories of Chris."
