MONTERREY, Mexico - Trinity University Tigers senior wide receiver Riley Curry of Sugar Land, Texas (Clements), played a large part in the Team Stars & Stripes comeback bid Saturday at the Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars).

In the annual game between NCAA Division III football standouts and the Tec Monterrey All-Stars, Riley snagged a key pass which helped erase a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit by the American squad. Tec Monterrey prevailed, though, with a 24-12 win at the Tec de Monterrey Campus Estado de Mexico.

Curry, a team captain, set up the first touchdown by grabbing a 22-yard pass from quarterback Mike Isgro of Delaware Valley College. The play set up a TD pass to Patrick O'Connor of Dickinson College. Curry helped his teammates in the first half, by catching a 23-yard pass from quarterback Kyle Paulson of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Team Stars & Stripes advanced the ball to the Tec 6 yard line, but a flag was thrown for unnecessary roughness. A QB sack by Tec, followed by an unsuccessful fourth-down conversion, left Team Stars & Stripes scoreless in the first half.

The 6-foot, 196-pound Curry was the seventh Tiger to play in the U.S.-Mexico all-star game.

Curry earned All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference honors for the fourth consecutive year. This season, Curry snagged 52 passes for 575 yards and five touchdowns. He is ranked No. 2 in Trinity career receptions (217), becoming just the second player in Trinity history to reach the 200 receptions plateau. Curry is fourth in Tiger history in career receiving yards (2,701) and fifth in touchdown receptions (25).

The Tigers, led by 20th-year head coach Steve Mohr, completed the season with a 7-3 record. Trinity went 4-2 in the SCAC, and tied for third place.
