13 points and Spencer Burke added five blocked shots in the win.
Ten different players scored for the ‘Roos in the game.
Against Colorado College, Taylor Beatty led five ‘Roos in

downtown on his way to 14 points. Chris Sturtevant and Scott
Straley each had 12 points and Alade had 11 and eight boards in the
game. The ‘Roos, who are now 9-4 overall and 3-2 in
conference play, are home this weekend against Rhodes and
Birmingham-Southern.
Birmingham-Southern went 2-0 this week, defeating
Asbury College 94-91 at home before traveling to Memphis on
Saturday. BSC topped the Lynx 100-62, breaking into triple digits
for the first time this season. The wins improve BSC to 11-1
overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Panthers’ success
this week is thanks, in large part, to the play of sophomore guard
Jasen Jonus. The Boaz, Ala. native scored the game-winning three
pointer at the buzzer against Asbury, leading the Panthers with 14
points, and led in scoring again in Memphis with 18. Jonus leads
the Panthers in scoring and points per game this season with 14.6
points per game. Jonus and the Panthers will return to Bill Battle
this Tuesday for their final non-conference matchup of the season
with Atlanta Christian before heading back out on the road this
weekend for their first western swing of the 2009-10 season with
games at Colorado College and Austin College.
Centre added two more wins to its current win
streak, which now stands at seven, by defeating both Oglethorpe and
Sewanee over the weekend. The Colonels, again struggled to shoot
the ball against Oglethorpe, but once again, found a way to win,
rallying from 14 down with less than 13 minutes to play to force
overtime and then win 59-58 in the extra period to give Oglethorpe
its first conference loss of the season. Centre then posted a
tremendous defensive effort in a 71-36 win over Sewanee, holding
the Tigers to only two field goals and eight points in the first
half. In fact, the Colonels did not allow a field goal by Sewanee
for 18:18 (final 15:08 of first half, and first 3:10 of second
half). Centre, now 8-4 overall and 4-1 in the SCAC, travel to
Millsaps and Hendrix this week.
Nick Rose poured in a career-high 34 points as Colorado
College took over sole possession of first place in the
Western Division with a 93-89 victory over Austin College. Rose

including four during the final 1:45 that helped seal the victory.

than four minutes to play, the second of which put the Tigers ahead
for good at 88-86 with 1:32 remaining, and finished with a
career-high nine points. Colorado College shot a season-high .592

points. The following day, Rose scored 31 points to lead CC to an
84-75 victory over Johnson & Wales University. Rose scored 22
points in the second half. The junior guard shot a career-high .667
from the floor. Brady Ohlsen finished with 18 points and team highs
of eight rebounds and four assists. The Tigers play host to
Birmingham-Southern College and Rhodes College this weekend.
DePauw improved to 10-4 overall and 3-2 in the
SCAC with a weekend sweep of Sewanee and Oglethorpe. The Tigers
topped Sewanee by a 77-54 count on Friday and defeated Oglethorpe,
80-60, on Sunday. In the Sewanee win, DePauw jumped out to an 11-0
lead, but Sewanee put together a 12-1 run of its own to tie the
game at 12-12 midway through the first half. DePauw scored the next
six and stretched the halftime lead to 37-20. Steve Lemasters led
the Tigers with 17 points, while Tom Callen matched a season high
with 14. David Gray paced DePauw with 11 rebounds as the Tigers
held a 38-26 edge on the boards. Tony James dished out a
career-best nine assists in the win without committing a turnover.
After leading by just one at halftime, DePauw scored the first six
points of the second half to start a 19-5 run which sent the margin
to double digits for the rest of the game.
Hendrix went 0-2 this week in a pair of SCAC West
Division games featuring a 61-54 loss to Trinity University on
Friday night and a 74-66 loss to Southwestern University on Sunday
afternoon. The Warriors are in the midst of a four-game skid and
now stand at 4-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play. The last time
Hendrix lost four-straight was during the 2005-06 season. Sophomore
forward Nick Heathscott was just three points shy of matching his
career high with 27 points on the night. Senior guard Cal Rose was
the only other Warrior in double digits with 10 points against the
Tigers. Hendrix fought back with a 12-4 run that ended with 3:20 to
go when Southwestern senior guard Zach Bergstrom fired a 3-pointer
to seal the win.
Millsaps picked up
its second consecutive weekend sweep at home over Southwestern and
Trinity this past weekend, extending its season-long win streak to
three games. The Majors, now 5-7 overall and 2-3 in SCAC play, are
in the middle of a 7-game homestand in which they’ve gone 3-1
so far. On Friday night in a 69-59 win over SU, junior forward
Chris Ingle turned in a career-high 21 points on a career-best
8-of-10 shooting from the floor as Millsaps never trailed in the
victory. The Majors’ bench outscored SU by a 21-6 margin, led
by 10 points off the bench from freshman Quinn Lemieux. In the
lowest scoring win in Millsaps history since a 44-40 victory over
Washington University (Mo.) in 1984, Millsaps held Trinity to a
season-low 27 percent shooting (16 pct in the second half) from the
floor to walk away with a 47-39 victory Saturday night to close out
the sweep. On the weekend, the Majors outrebounded their opponent
by a +7.5 margin, including a 40-26 advantage over Southwestern.
The Majors will host the University of Dallas tonight before
closing out their homestand with Centre and DePauw this
weekend.
Oglethorpe lost a pair of road SCAC contests this
past week to Centre and DePauw. Against the Colonels on Friday the
Petrels let a 14 point second half lead slip away against the
Colonels and their six game winning streak along with it by losing
in overtime, 59-58. Oglethorpe looked poised to claim a huge road
conference win after jumping on the Colonels early on for a 30-26
halftime lead that swelled to 47-33 following an Erik Strong basket
with 12:07 remaining in the contest. The Petrels went cold,
however, and the Colonels put together a 22-8 run as the clocked
tick down to send the game to overtime. In overtime, the Colonels
took their first lead of the entire game with 4:02 left on a basket
by Danny Noll. Against DePauw, The Petrels only trailed by one
point at halftime but the Tigers opened the second half on a 30-9
run to seal the win, 80-60. Todd Ward led the Petrels on the
afternoon with 16 points and nine rebounds. The Petrels are now 8-5
on the season and 3-2 in SCAC play. Oglethorpe is back in action
this Friday night when they square off with the Trinity Tigers in
San Antonio, Texas.
Rhodes lost its only game of the week as they
dropped a home contest to Birmingham Southern 100-62. The Lynx
placed three players in double digits as Reid Hamilton and Brad
Luckett each scored 12 points. Larry Cunningham netted 11 points in
the loss. Hamilton also grabbed game high six rebounds. The Lynx
will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Sherman,
Texas and Colorado Springs, Colo. to take on SCAC foes Austin
College and Colorado College.
Sewanee dropped a pair of SCAC contests this week
with losses to DePauw and Centre on the road. Garrett Hollingsworth
averaged 12 points per game on the trip and is leading the Tigers
so far this year with 10.2 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per
game. The Tigers are 3-10 and 0-5 in the SCAC and will play at
Southwestern and Trinity this weekend before hosting Colorado
College and Austin College the following weekend in home
action.
Southwestern split weekend SCAC games to move to
10-4 on the year and 3-2 in conference action. Friday the Pirates
faced off with Millsaps College, fell behind early, and were never
able to pull ahead as SU struggled shooting from the floor. In
their game against Hendrix on Sunday Southwestern returned to their
winning ways by mounting a nine point lead and making their free
throws down the stretch to secure the 74-66 victory. Senior Zach
Bergstrom had 19 points in the win while junior Jonathan Brown
scored 17 points in 21 minutes of action. The Pirates return home
for two games this coming weekend, facing Sewanee on Friday and
Oglethorpe on Saturday.
Trinity split a weekend of SCAC play on the road,
defeating Hendrix College 61-54, but losing a 47-39 game to
Millsaps College. Sunday’s point total for Trinity was the
lowest in the SCAC era for the Tigers, which began in 1991-92. The
previous low was 46 points, which Trinity scored twice against
Rhodes in 1996-97 and 1998-99. Luke Caldarera and Michael
Tobolowsky scored in double figures in both games, though the
Tigers have now lost four of their last five meetings against
Millsaps. Trinity returns home for another SCAC weekend on Friday
and Sunday, facing off against SCAC East Division opponents in
Sewanee and Oglethorpe. Last season, the Tigers were 3-0 against
the two schools, including a 53-52 win over Sewanee in the SCAC
Tournament. B.J. Moon scored a buzzer-beating layup in the game to
lift Trinity to the win.
