SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Trinity University Tigers senior midfielder Brianna Young and junior defender Danika Wright were elected to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III All-America Team.

Both Trinity players made the All-America First Team. The two Tigers also garnered top honors in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, and were selected for the All-West Region First Team.

Young, from Rockville Centre, N.Y. (South Side), was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Year. Wright, from Alpine, Utah (Lone Peak), was selected as SCAC Defensive Player of the Year.

The potent Tiger offense (56 goals scored) was sparked by Young, who tied for the lead in points with sophomore forward Abby Loar (37 points). Young scored 14 goals (six game-winners) and had nine assists.

Trinity’s stingy defense, anchored by Wright, allowed only five goals during the season, and registered 14 shutouts. Wright contributed to the offense by scoring five goals (one game-winner), along with three assists.

Guided by sixth-year head coach Lance Key, the Tigers sported a perfect 16-0-0 regular-season record. Under coach Key’s leadership, Trinity won a fourth SCAC Championship. Coach Key was elected SCAC Coach of the Year for the third time. The Tigers advanced to the NCAA Division III quarterfinals (hosted by Trinity), where they were edged 4-2 in penalty kicks by Lynchburg. Trinity completed the season with an 18-0-1 record, and a No. 5 national ranking.
