DePauw's Reich reaches finals in two NCAA events

GREENCASTLE, Ind. - DePauw senior Lauren Reich competed in two events in the opening day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on the James A. Hollensteiner Track in the DePauw Indoor Tennis and Track Center and qualified for Saturday's finals in both.

Reich posted the top time in the mile run as she won her heat in 4:58.88. Laura Paulsen of Johns Hopkins was second in 4:59.17.

In the 800 meters, Reich finished with the day's second-fastest time in 2:14.25. Allison Chamberlain won the heat and finished with a track record of 2:10.81.

Saturday's mile final is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. with the 800 meters at 3:45 p.m.

Other Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference performers included Centre College's Emily Niehaus. Niehaus competed in the weight throw and tallied a total distance of 50 feet and 3/4 inches. However, the Colonel sophomore did not qualify for the finals.
