SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity's men's soccer season ended as the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys upset the second-ranked Tigers 2-0 in the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer second round playoffs on Sunday evening.

The Cowboys, who had lost to the Tigers in the three previous meetings in the NCAA Playoffs, scored goals in the 79th and 84th minutes to advance to the round of 16. Trinity, which completed the season at 15-2-2, played in its 13th NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers had previously won at least one game in each NCAA playoff appearance, except for the 1997 season. Trinity was a 4-0 winner over Hardin-Simmons earlier this season in Abilene, Texas.

In Sunday's game, the Tigers led 4-2 in shots on goal, and 18-6 in total shots. The four Trinity players who shot on target were senior midfielder Conner Hickey, sophomore midfielder Nima Naderi, junior defender Patrick Cunagin, and sophomore midfielder Josh Adams.

The Tigers held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
