LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- It was a light but productive week for Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's lacrosse with just two teams in action and three total games but SCAC squads posted a perfect 3-0 record.
Southwestern (4-2) won its third-straight contest following an impressive, 19-9, victory last Tuesday against N.C. Wesleyan. Senior attack Hayley Donnelly led the way with a season-high six goals and two assists for eight total points. Donnelly now has at least a hat trick in five of the six Pirates games this year. Defensively, senior Julia Tape collected a team best five ground balls and junior Grace Maynard forced a game-high four turnovers.
No. 24 Colorado College (3-0) wrapped up its west coast swing with a perfect 2-0 record defeating Chapman, 17-7, on Friday and held off ranked Claremont-M-S, 12-10, on Sunday to close out the weekend. Allie Thuet scored seven goals and dished out five assists to lead the CC Tigers offensively. Thuet scored three goals and five assists during Friday's win at Chapman. She also grabbed two ground balls and caused a turnover. During Sunday's victory at No. 25 Claremont-M-S, Thuet led the Tigers with a career-high seven points. She also dished out a personal-best three assists and matched her previous high of four goals. Defensively sophomore Alena Stern stopped 21 of 28 shots on goal in the cage for the CC Tigers, posting a .552 save percentage.
Women's lacrosse returns this week with all four teams in action starting on Monday when Southwestern puts its winning streak on the line when they host Cornell College.
