  • An RBI single by Blade Strzelczyk scored Tyler Cauley to get TLU on the board in the bottom of the second.
  • Cameron Wilson's RBI single pushed Cauley across for his and the team's second run of the game.
  • The Bulldog's Matthew Hickey went eight scoreless innings in picking up the win, allowing just four hits - all singles - while striking out three.

  • Trey Albaugh: 2-3, 1 2B
  • Blade Strzelczyk: 1-1, 1 RBI, 3 BB, 1 SB
  • Tyler Cauley: 1-2, 2 runs, 1 BB, 2 SB
  • Matthew Hickey: 8.0 IP, 4 hits, 0 R, 5 BB, 3 K

  • Michael Goodrich: 1-2,  BB
  • Corey Cater: 5.1 IP, 7 hits, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K

  • Texas Lutheran's victory was the program's fifth straight in SCAC tournament play. It's the most consecutive wins by one program since Trinity won seven straight from 2015 to 2017.
  • TLU and Trinity have met every year in the conference tournament since the Bulldogs joined the SCAC in 2014. TLU has won the last two meetings after dropping the first five.
  • Hickey improved to 6-1 with the victory. Cater slipped to 7-3 with the loss.
  • Since the tournament went to a four-team format in 2014, the team that has won Game 3 to advance to the championship round has won four of the last five championships.
  • The two combined runs scored makes Saturday's contest the lowest-scoring SCAC tournament game since Southwestern blanked Millsaps College, 1-0, at the 2002 event. It is the third-lowest scoring game all-time.

Texas Lutheran advances to championship round and will play for the SCAC title tomorrow with first pitch set for 1 p.m. CT. As the only undefeated team remaining in the tournament, the Bulldogs will have two chances to win the league crown on Sunday.
