LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference outdoor track and field season closed out its final full regular season weekend of the year last week as all eight teams were in action continuing to tune up for the SCAC Outdoor Championships set to start on Friday, April 26th in San Antonio, Texas, hosted by Trinity.

Austin College and Dallas both traveled to Commerce, Texas for the East Texas Invitational last Friday. TAMU-Commerce won the men's championship with 205 total points, while Austin College and Dallas both tied for 14th with three points each. Crusader's Kevin McGuirk led the way for the Dallas men's program setting a new school and personal record in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing eight with a time of 56.41. McGuirk also grabbed a PR in the 110-meter hurdles (17.22) and the 100-meter dash (11.63) in his career debut in the race. The ever-versatile senior has now competed in 11 different events for the Crusaders in his career. RJ Navarro continued his strong season for the 'Roos with a record-breaking performance in the 5,000-meter race, finishing sixth with a school record time of 15:57.57 to highlight the Austin College results. TAMU-Commerce also won the women's championship with 199 total points, as Dallas finished 12th with eight team points, while Austin College did not score any team points. Anna Wilgenbusch finished fifth in the 5,000-meters, setting a new school record and PR time, stopping the clock in 18:54.61 to lead the way for Dallas. Wilgenbusch also set a PR in the 1,500-meters to finish fourth among all Div. III runners in the event with a time of 5:06.20. The 'Roos women were highlighted by Hannah Richards shattering her previous season-best time in the 1,500-meters, coming in with a time of 5:02.74, a full 29 seconds faster that her previous season best.

Colorado College and Johnson & Wales competed at the non-scoring Kit Mayer Invitational over the weekend at Div. II Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. CC senior Henry Baldwin finished second in the high jump clearing 2.05 meters and sophomore Michael Gorman posted his second consecutive sub-50 seconds in the 400-meter dash, finishing sixth with a time of 49.62 to highlight the Tiger men's program. Camille Weaver and Megan Koch each posted top three finishes to lead CC on the women's side. Weaver finished second in the high jump (1.60m) and placed third in the triple jump (11.25m), while Koch stood out on the track finishing third in the 1,500-meters (4:52.59). JWU was led once again by Bryce Moore, finishing 15th in 1,500-meters (4:20.78) and 31st in the 400-meters (55.16) to highlight the Wildcat men's program. On the women's side, Catherine Carbeck led the way for JWU, placing 18th in the 400-meters with a time of 1:04.80.

Colorado College also sent a small contingent of runner to Wichita, Kansas to compete at the KT Woodman Track and Field Classic. Tony Calderon posted a fourth-place finish in the men's 10K (31:41.60) and Allysa Warling finished 11th in the women's 5K (18:14.71) to highlight the Tigers performances.

Schreiner, Southwestern, Texas Lutheran and Trinity all competed at the UIW Invitational, in San Antonio last week. TLU compiled 316 points to win the men's championship, followed by Southwestern in sixth (111), Trinity in seventh (66) and Schreiner rounded out the SCAC squads in seventh with 53 points. On the women's side, Incarnate Word took home the team title with 235.5 points, followed by Texas Lutheran in second (221), Southwestern in fifth (111), Trinity in sixth (107) and Schreiner in seventh (47). The TLU men's team produced a remarkable 13 individual victories, led by Garrett Garza and Dillan Wendel. Garza doubled up, winning the shot put (16.51m) and posting a new season and conference best in the discuss with a winning throw of 47.48 meters, while Wendel vaulted to the top of the SCAC performance list in the 800-meters after winning the event last weekend in 1:56.97. The TLU women posted 10 individual finishes led by Ashley Myers and Ashley Rynard, each winning gold in two separate events. Myers took home first in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 12.33 and 25.20, respectively, while Rynard won the 1,500-meters (4:41.86) and the 800-meters (2:15.88). Southwestern was led by sophomore Devin Rosas and senior Sam Grubbs, as Rosas won the men's long jump with a leap of 6.69 meters and Grubbs took first in the men's hammer with a toss of 43.57 meters to lead the Pirates. On the women's side, Keamber McCracken, Jaelyn Stewart and Hannah Bruce all won events to highlight the Pirates' performances. McCracken won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:12.20, Stewart captured the shot put with a mark of 11.50 meters and Bruce captured the hammer with an SCAC-season best toss of 43.46 meters. Simon Jernigan was the top men's finisher for Trinity after capturing first in the 1,500-meters, breaking the tape in 4:36.89, while the Tiger women had three athletes take home gold in Megan Richards, Maria Nowlin and Mia Loseff. Richards captured the 400-meter title in 1:07.78, Nowlin won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 13:24.37 and Loseff cleared 3.45 meters to win the pole vault. Schreiner was led by Joseph Diaz's winning performance in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, breaking the tape in 11:27.78. The Mountaineer's Amber Harris captured a title of her own, winning the triple jump with a leap of 9.67 meters.

Trinity also sent a contingent of athletes to compete at the University of California-San Diego Triton Invitational as the Tigers finished fourth with 44 points on the men's side and sixth on the women's side with 46 total team points among all non-Div. I competition. Highlights included Makenna Bentley winning the women's high jump with a personal best 1.62 meters, Abigail Bannon-Schneebeck placing 11th of 36 runners in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.05 and Harry Bellow turning in a Trinity season-best time of 15:19.30 in the men's 5,000-meters.
