KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the seventh annual Team Academic Excellence Awards Thursday, and three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball programs were recognized. Full Release
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2017-18 season.
The SCAC was represented by Colorado College, Southwestern University and Trinity University for the fifth consecutive year. Trinity has earned the distinction in all seven years since the award was established in 2012-13, while both Colorado College and Southwestern have been honored six times.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s basketball student-athletes who competed during the 2018-19 season.
