LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity (6-0-1, 4-0-0) and Southwestern (6-1-1, 4-0-1) both remained unbeaten in SCAC Men’s Soccer action last week as each team logged a pair of league victories during a full slate of conference contests.
The TU Tigers hosted Colorado College (6-3-0, 5-2-0) on Friday evening, earning a 5-2 victory. Trinity scored twice in the final 10 minutes to pull away from Colorado College after the CC Tigers struck on a pair of goals just over a minute apart to pull within one in the 80th minute. Trinity closed out the weekend with its fourth shutout in the last five games, defeating Johnson & Wales (3-4-1, 1-4-1), 7-0.
Southwestern posted a pair of 1-0 shutout victories, beating Texas Lutheran (4-3-0, 3-2-0) on the road on Tuesday and knocking off Centenary (1-7-1, 0-6-1) at home on Friday. The Pirates scored both game-winning goals in the second half and limited the Bulldogs and the Gents to just four shots-on-goal in 180 combined minutes of action.
Despite falling to Trinity, Johnson & Wales and Colorado College split SCAC road contests, both earning a win against Schreiner (2-5-2, 1-3-2). The Wildcats won on Friday afternoon, 1-0, and the Tigers delivered a 3-0 shutout victory on Sunday.
In the final SCAC game of the week, Texas Lutheran defeated Centenary,4-1, with all five goals coming in the second half.
The SCAC schedule continues this week, with two contests scheduled on Tuesday and four scheduled on both Friday and Sunday.
