LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimming and diving regular season schedule drew to a close over the weekend when The University of the Ozarks hosted a pair of dual meets. The first of which was held on Friday with Williams Baptist and the second on the following day versus Henderson State for the Eagles' senior day meet.
On Friday against Williams Baptist, the Eagles boasted their second victory of the season, earning the 149-17 win. Freshman Josh Collins was triple-winner in the event taking the 200 back (2:11.22) as well as the 1650 (19:19.42) and 50 (22.93) free. Classmate Jacob Jones also earned multiple victories, winning the 100 fly (59.47) and free (50.00). Senior Jacob Toland was the victor in the 200 free completing the race in 1:55.67 and sophomore Michael Walkine took the 500 free in 5:55.85. Freshman Nicolai Van Zyl rounded out the winners' circle for the Eagles posting the top time of 1:07.35 in the 100 breast.
The Eagles' honored their lone senior, Toland, on Saturday he picked up an individual victory in the 100 back with a time of 57.89 as well as securing a win in the 200 medley (1:41.97) relay with Walkaine, Collins and Jones. Collins and Jones went on to earn a pair of individual victories, with Collins claiming the 50 back (26.84) and fly (25.03) and Jones touching first in the 100 (50.17) and 500 free (5:01.93). Fellow freshman Joel Coppernoll also chipped in with a victory in the 200 free finishing in 1:51.19.
All seven SCAC men's swimming and diving squads will meet next Wednesday at Palo Alto Natatorium in San Antonio for the conference championship.
