LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Six of the league's seven women's golf teams were in action this past week, with half of those participating in Centenary College's Hal Sutton Invite.
Texas Lutheran improved by 27 strokes on the second day to post a two-day total of 735 and finished fourth in the seven team field at the Hal Sutton Invite. Junior Summer Swift earned medalist honors after firing a final round score of 76. She finished three shots in front of Lindy Patterson of the University of Texas at Dallas and Charnay Williams of Tyler Junior College and finished with a two-round total of 160. The host school, Centenary finished in seventh with team rounds of 409 and 396 for a final score of 805. Junior Erin Rostro led the Ladies with a two day total of 179 (83-96), good for a 12th place finish among individuals. Freshman Tiffany Han of Dallas made her spring debut with rounds of 111 and 139 to finish with a two-day total of 250 (+106).
The Southwestern women finished 10th in a field of 21 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational this weekend. The Pirates moved up to sixth place in the second round after scoring a 319 but fell back in the third round, scoring a 335 to finish with a score of 974. Leilani McDaniel paced the team with a 237, shooting an 80 in the first and third rounds and a 77 in the second to finish 21 over par.
The Trinity women placed 10th at the highly competitive George Fox Westbrook Invitational on Sunday. The Tigers improved their first-round score by 12 strokes and finished with a second-round score of 319, which gave Trinity a two-day total of 650 at the Westbrook Village Golf Coursel. Emilee Strausburg bettered her score by five strokes for a 5-over-par 76 in the final round. Strausburg carded a 157 and rose nine positions to tie for 24th place.
Hannah Marie Perry shot a season-best 124 on Sunday in the second and final round and finished 22nd among individuals to lead the Johnson & Wales women at the Willamette Valley Cup.
