SCAC Men's Swimming and Diving Recap - Week Eight

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Only three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's swimming and diving programs hit the pool this weekend highlighted by Centenary hosting Austin College in a conference dual that served as the regular season finale for both squads.

At the conference dual, the host school prevailed 101-89. The Gents produced two triple-winners in the contest with freshman standout Miguel Vasquez posting a season's best performance in the 100 fly (52.87) in addition to being a part of the winning the 400 medley (3:47.56) and free relays (3:28.30). Classmate Mitchell Lulich, another triple-winner for Centenary, shared victories in both relay events while contributing an individual win in the 200 IM finishing in 2:10.78. Senior Blake Smith and junior Eddie Dyess took home a pair of wins each, both earning a victory as part of the 400 medley team. Smith also earned an individual win the 500 free in 5:13.85 and Dyess was a member of the victorious 400 free relay team. Sophomore Chris Reese rounded out the winner's circle for the Gents with a victory in the 1000 free in a time of 11:07.93.

The Roos' were led by junior Chris Brown who took gold in the 100 back and breast, finishing in 55.95 and 1:04.04, respectively. Sophomore Zach Magers posted the top time in the 200 free touching the wall in 2:00.34 and freshman classmates Charles Smith and Tanner O'Dwyer earned victories in the 100 free (58.74) 50 free (23.51), respectively. 

On Friday, University of the Ozarks competed in a duel with Hendrix where the Eagles fell 105-117. Junior Jacob Jones paced the Eagles with victories in the 200 (1:48.64) and 100 (48.96) free. Senior Jacob Toland won the 500 free finishing in 5:16.76 while sophomore Michael Wilkane took the 50 breast in 29.07. Freshman Josh Collins added a victory in the 50 fly with a time of 29.07. All four of the aforementioned swimmers also participated in the winning 200 medley relay effort, posting the top time of 1:41.62. The Eagles finished the day with a victory in the 200 free relay in a time of 1:40.02.

SCAC men's swimming and diving action continues on Friday when Colorado College hosts McMurry for the Colorado College Classic along with three other teams who are set to make a splash in dual meets on Saturday.
