LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity (12-1-1, 11-0-0) clinched its spot for the SCAC Women’s Soccer Tournament following a pair of shutout victories over the weekend.
The TU Tigers opened the weekend with a 4-0 victory over Texas Lutheran (6-5-1, 5-4-0) on Friday and followed that up with a 7-0 win against Dallas (3-7-2, 2-5-1). Trinity has now reached double digit wins in conference play for five-straight seasons.
TLU bounced back from its loss to Trinity to defeat Johnson & Wales (6-6-0, 5-5-0), 1-0, on Sunday.
Schreiner (4-8-2, 3-7-1) joined Trinity as the other lone unbeaten team in league play last week. The Mountaineers tied UD, 2-2, on Friday and defeated Southwestern (7-5-0, 5-3-0), 2-0, on Sunday. The two-game stretch for Schreiner marked the first time this season that the Mountaineers have posted multiple goals in consecutive games.
Southwestern, despite the loss to Schreiner, finished the week 1-1 in league play after defeating JWU, 6-0, on Friday. The win extended the Pirates shutout streak at the time to three games as the Pirates have posted two streaks of three or more shutouts in two of the last three seasons.
League play continues this week with eight games scheduled, highlighted by three games on Friday and three on Sunday.
