SHERMAN, Texas – Michele Housden has been named the head coach of the Austin College women's soccer program, athletics director David Norman has announced. Housden most recently served as the head coach at R.L. Paschal High School in Fort Worth.

"We are excited to welcome Michele to Austin College," said Norman. "She brings a tremendous amount of knowledge, experience, and success to our women's soccer program. Michele has a strong understanding of what it means to be a true student-athlete, and is committed to the growth of our program both on the field and in the classroom."

Housden is a 2002 graduate of the University of Alabama, where she was a starter for the Crimson Tide's women's soccer team. She was also a Southeastern Conference All-Academic Team member each of her four seasons. Housden earned her master's degree from Texas A&M Commerce in 2018.

"I am honored to join 'Roo Nation and bring my passion for athletics and academics to Austin College," said Housden. "I look forward to working with a tremendous group of student-athletes and restoring a culture of winning. The women's soccer program will be built on core values such as integrity, pride, competition, and academic excellence."

Housden has spent the last 14 years coaching at the high school level, amassing a head coaching record of 152-31-15. Prior to working at R.L. Paschal, Housden was the head coach at Princeton High School from 2013-2018. She was named the District 11-4A Coach of the Year in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2017, in addition to being the 4A Region II Coach of the Year in both 2015 and 2018. During the 2015 season, Princeton was the Texas 4A state runner-up, and from 2015-2018 her teams were undefeated in District 11-4A competition, winning the district championship each year.

From 2011-2013, Housden served as the head coach at McKinney Boyd High School, where she had previously served as an assistant coach beginning in 2007. In 2011, she guided McKinney Boyd to a Texas 5A state championship after reaching the state finals the previous season. Over the course of her time as an assistant and head coach at McKinney Boyd, Housden helped lead her teams to five district championships.
