LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -
The final week of September was jammed packed with SCAC men’s soccer action, as nine league matches were contested, highlighted by Dallas (4-2-0, 3-1-0) handing Trinity (8-1-1, 6-1-0) its first loss of the season, 2-1, on Sunday.

The Crusaders fell behind, 1-0, at half but responded with a pair of goals, six minutes apart, the second strike coming in the 59th minute and held on to beat the TU Tigers despite being outshot, 19-13. 2018 marks the second-straight year Dallas has defeated Trinity which is just the second time in SCAC history TU has lost to the same team in a regular season conference contest in consecutive years. The only other SCAC school to accomplish that feat was Centre back in 1994-95. Dallas is now 3-1 in SCAC play after also knocking off Schreiner (2-8-2, 1-6-2), 5-0, on Friday. Despite the loss to Dallas, Trinity posted a 2-1 record last week with victories over Schreiner, 5-0, on Tuesday and Austin College (4-3-2, 3-3-1), 4-1, on Friday.

Texas Lutheran (5-3-0, 4-2-0) and Southwestern (6-2-1, 4-1-1) combined for the most exciting game of the week, as the Bulldogs gave the Pirates their first SCAC loss of the season in overtime, 6-5, on Friday. It was the most combined goals in an SCAC conference contest since 2011, when Trinity defeated Rhodes, 10-3. TLU scored the game-winner in the 97th minute after a wild affair that saw the Bulldogs overcome an early two-goal deficit and eventually take a 5-4 lead before SU sent the game into overtime with a goal in the 85th minute.

Colorado College (8-3-0, 6-2-0) went 2-0 last week, earning an SCAC road victory against Centenary (1-10-1, 0-9-1), 5-0, on Friday and closed out its Texas road swing with a 3-0 win over non-conference foe East Texas Baptist on Sunday. Colorado College now leads all SCAC teams with seven shutouts on the season.

Austin College, despite falling to Trinity, went 2-1 in SCAC action last week earning conference wins against Centenary, 4-0, and Schreiner, 3-0. Johnson & Wales (4-4-1, 2-4-1) closed out the weekend by earning its second SCAC win of the season in double overtime against Centenary, scoring in the 109th minute to secure a 1-0 win.

The first full week of October is packed with SCAC men’s soccer action, with 10 contests scheduled, highlighted by Southwestern hosting Trinity on Tuesday and Dallas traveling to Colorado College on Sunday.
