LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s basketball race is starting to take shape following six league games last week, highlighted by Texas Lutheran posting a perfect 2-0 record on the road.

TLU (10-6, 5-2) opened with a 21-point victory over Schreiner (5-9, 1-4) on Tuesday behind four different players registering double-figures, led by Alex Cage with 14 points off the bench. On Saturday, Harris Jowell posted his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs to an 18-point victory at Austin College (6-9, 2-4). TLU is currently second in the league standings and has now won three straight and seven of its last eight contests.

Southwestern (8-7, 5-1) remained atop the league standings after splitting SCAC games last week. The Pirates set a new program mark by winning their opening five SCAC contests of the season following an 18-point win at Austin College on Friday. Brandon Alexander continued his hot stretch pouring in 23 points in the win and has now scored in double figures in five consecutive games.

Dallas (5-8, 4-2) handed Southwestern its first league loss of the season on Saturday, 84-77. The Crusaders were led by Michael Wambsganss who scored a season-high 24 points, including 22 in the second half. Dallas recorded a season best 10 steals in the win and is currently riding a four-game winning streak.

Johnson & Wales (12-5, 5-3) and Colorado College (6-11, 2-6) both collected a win against Trinity (2-13, 2-4) at home over the weekend. The Wildcats forced 19 turnovers and got 18 points from Andrew Romero III to secure a seven-point win on Saturday, while the CC Tigers were led by CooXooEii Black with his sixth double-double of the year registering 15 points and 11 rebounds.

In non-conference action, Centenary (6-9, 3-3) handed East Tex. Baptist a 20-point loss on Saturday. The Gents were led by junior Cedric Harris after scoring a career-high 34 points on 12-of-23 shooting, including 6-for-13 from beyond the arc.

There are eight league games on the schedule this week, highlighted by Texas Lutheran traveling to Southwestern on Tuesday.
