SEGUIN, Texas
-- Texas Lutheran senior right-hander Nathan Malinovsky and junior outfielder Tyler Cauley have been named 2019 D3baseball.com Preseason All-Americans.

Malinovsky was named a Preseason First Team All-American. Cauley was named a Preseason Second Team All-American.

Malinovsky previously claimed Preseason First Team All-America honors from D3baseball.com in 2017.

Both players received All-America honors in 2018 in leading TLU to a national runner-up finish in NCAA Division III.

Malinovsky was a First Team All-America selection by D3baseball.com and by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings. Cauley was a Third Team All-American selection by D3baseball.com and by ABCA/Rawlings.

Malinovsky went 12-2 in 2018 with an ERA of 1.38. He struck out 108 batters in 110-2/3 innings of work. He held opponents to a .188 average and tossed six complete games and three shutouts.

In addition to his All-America honors in 2018, Malinovsky was named the 2018 West Region Pitcher of the Year and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year. He has twice been named the SCAC Pitcher of the Year. In 2016, he was named the D3baseball.com National Rookie of the Year and a Third Team All-American.

Malinovsky ended his junior season with national rankings of: second in wins, seventh in complete games, eighth in innings pitched, 11th in games started, and 13th in ERA.

Cauley hit .371 in his sophomore year and led the nation in total bases (142, one more than teammate Riley Schaefer). Cauley drove in a team-best 66 and also had team-highs in home runs (12), doubles (20), and slugging percentage (.693).

In addition to winning the national statistical title for total bases, Cauley posted national rankings of: fifth in RBI, 12th in home runs, 14th in hits, and 34th in slugging percentage.

TLU Baseball finished the 2018 season as the No. 2-ranked team in both the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com national polls. The Bulldogs won the 2018 NCAA Division III Spokane, Wash. Regional and the 2018 SCAC Tournament.

The Bulldogs also received a 2018 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for outstanding performance in the classroom for the 2017-18 academic year.

TLU, 42-12 and the winner of the NCAA DIII Baseball Championship's Pool B, posted a 4-3 record in the DIII World Series. TLU went 3-1 in elimination games at Fox Cities Stadium.

The 2018 Bulldogs' season win total of 42 is the third-most in school history - trailing only the 45 wins from the 1996 team and the 43 wins in 1999.

TLU's second-place national finish is the best NCAA Division III final standing in a team sport in school history. TLU Men's Golf claimed a third-place NCAA DIII finish in 2011.

The Bulldogs produced an 11-3 post-season record in 2018 (counting tournament runs in the SCAC, the Spokane Regional, and the DIII World Series).

In addition to the success on the field and in the classroom, TLU Baseball also won the SCAC Baseball Team Sportsmanship Award in 2018. The Bulldogs have won back-to-back SCAC Baseball Team Sportsmanship Awards.

The Bulldogs also served as the grand marshals of Seguin's 2018 Fourth of July Parade.
