LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four of the league's seven men's teams were in action this week, with all four participating in the West Region Invitational which was contested at the Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.
Sixth-ranked Southwestern, the host school, fired a three round total of 888 (289-301-298) to squeak out a one-shot victory over 24th-ranked Texas Lutheran. The Bulldogs finished at 889 (297-293-299). Dallas was fourth with a team score of 914 and Centenary finished ninth with a 966.
TLU's Colin Uecker won his seventh career collegiate men's golf tournament - and his fourth of 2018-19 - firing a final round 69 to finish five shots clear of the field. He was the only player to finish under par after posting rounds of 72-72-69 to finish at 213 (-3). Teammate Matthew McArthur also posted a top 10 individual finish, coming home in a tie for sixth with a 224 (76-74-74).
Southwestern had three golfers finish in the top five as Matthew Christl and Devon Home finished tied for second and Sutherland Stith was fourth. Christl and Home both finished at 218 (+2) and Stith was one shot back at 219 (+3). Home's third round 67 (-5) was the low round of the tournament.
Robby Evans and Emilio Montalvo tied for eighth place to lead Dallas. Montalvo moved up seven spots after he finished +1 on the day for a 226 (76-76-73) while Evans tied his teammate with a 226 (76-71-78).
Reed Balcerowicz paced Centenary with an 18th-place finish. The junior fired rounds of 77-75-78 for a 230 (+14).
