LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Six of the league's seven women's golf teams were in action last week, highlighted by four of those participating in the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.
Southwestern led the SCAC contingent with a third place finish, posting rounds of 325-333 for a 658 (+45). Trinity took fourth place at 327-353--680 and Schreiner followed at 363-340--703. The University of Dallas did not field a complete team.
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (315-328--643) and UT-Tyler (319-324--643) tied for first place.
Southwestern's Valentina Olivieri won individual medalist honors with a total score of 156, posting consecutive rounds of 78 to finish at +12. Teammate Leilani McDaniel tied for second place among the 37 individuals - one shot back of Olivieri - with rounds of 77 and 80 (157, +13).
Trinity placed four golfers in the top-20, paced by Raquel Hill's final-round 83 for a total score of 167. Hill finished the tournament tied for 10th place and rose eight slots from the first day of competition.
Piper Gleadhill (82-86--168) and Abigail Cloud (88-81--169) paced Schreiner, finishing in 12th and a tie for 13th, respectively.
Tiffany Han represented Dallas at the West Region Invitational, posting a two-day score of 222 (111-111).
Earlier in the week, the Texas Lutheran women's team finished the University of California at Santa Cruz Spring Invite in fifth place after a final round 344 at Pacific Grove Golf Links. Summer Swift ended the tournament in 10th place after an 81 on Sunday. She shot a 13-over-par 157 with rounds of 76 and 81.
After a dual with Hood College on Friday, the Johnson & Wales University women's team wrapped up play at the Eagle Invitational on Sunday. Shundiin Kauffman edged classmate Hannah Marie Perry for the team's best round of the day with a 126. Kauffman improved nine shots to lead JWU with a two-day total of 261.
