Colorado College's Baldwin, Trinity's Walker Named to Google Cloud Academic All-District Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Henry Baldwin of Colorado College and Blair Walker of Trinity University were named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team Tuesday.

Baldwin, a senior from Chicago, Ill, boasts a 3.80 grade point average as an English major. On the track, Baldwin became the first male in conference history to win four straight high jump gold medals as the senior took first place in his final conference meet with a leap of 6' 5 1/2". After qualifying for nationals for the second consecutive year, Baldwin finished in a tie for 15th place in the high jump at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this past Friday. He bested his 17th place finish from last year's national meet.

This year, Baldwin cleared 6'6" on his second attempt before missing all three jumps at 6'8". The Chicago, Ill., product qualified for the national meet with a leap of 6'8.75" at the Spank Blasing Meet at CSU-Pueblo in March and earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors for the second consecutive year.

Walker, a senior from McKinney, Texas, holds a 3.88 grade point average as a Computer Science major with a minor in math and physics. He has been a member of Trinity's Dean's List and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Like Baldwin, Walker competed in the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships at Geneva, Ohio, this past weekend and placed 20th in the 400 meters. Last year, Walker was a member of the 4x100-meter quartet, which finished in 16th place.

Walker was tabbed for this year's United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division III Men's South/Southeast All-Region Team. He was honored in the 400 meters and the 4x400-meter relay.

In late April, Walker was presented the SCAC Men's Track & Field Elite 19 award at the conference championships held at Trinity. The award is credited to a student-athlete for academic and athletics excellence.

Walker won the SCAC 400 meters with a personal-best time of 47.95 seconds, which shattered a 16-year-old Trinity record. He also received All-SCAC honors on the winning 4x400-meter relay team, which set a SCAC record of 3:17.35. Walker finished second in the 200 meters with a personal-best mark of 21.81 seconds.

The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
