Trinity Women Take Lead After Day Two of SCAC Swimming & Diving Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - After starting Day Two in second place, the Trinity University women used a win in the 500 free and second place finishes in the 200 IM, the 50 free and the 200 free relay to vault to the top of the leader board Thursday at the 2019 SCAC Swimming & Diving Championship. Official Website | Thursday's Complete Results | Photo Gallery

Trinity leads with 314 points, followed by first-day leader Colorado College, who has 248 points and Southwestern University just six points behind with 242.

The Southwestern women won the evening's opening race, the 200 free relay, which was the team's second relay victory of the championship. The team of Cara Chin, Jesse Stovall, Rehgan Hartsell and Erika Dubros touched in a time of 1:36.92 to take gold. Trinity finished second in a time of 1:37.23 and Colorado College was third in 1:40.16.

In the event's opening individual race, Trinity's Mabel Fowler won her second straight 500 free, touching home in a time of 5:05.03. Ashley Harmon of Southwestern finished second in a time of 5:07.83 and Fower's teammate, Meghan Magill, finished third in 5:13.23.

Southwestern's Rehgan Hartsell won her second consecutive 200 IM, placing first in a time of 2:08.84. Trinity's Morgen Reyna finished second in a time of 2:09.05 and Colorado College's Jio Chang was third in 2:11.03.

In the final event of the evening on the women's side, Jesse Stovall of Southwestern earned her first-ever SCAC individual title as the freshman outtouched the competition in the 50 free in a time of 23.79. The victory also marked the first-ever in the event for a female Pirate. Trinity's Star Rosales and Abbie Jones finished second and third, respectively, in times of 24.18 and 24.98.
